You will need:

cream cheese

sprinkles

crumbs (crushed cookies, crackers, or chips)

green food coloring

round pretzels

dates, raisins, or craisins

apple slices

cheese slice

carrot shreds

plastic baggie

toothpick

Put cream cheese in the plastic baggie. Add a drop or two of food coloring (not too much!), seal the baggie, and squish it in your hands until it turns green.

Cut a teeny piece off one corner of the bag. Now squeeze the green cheese over an apple slice.

Attach a round pretzel on the cheesy apple slice for your head. Squeeze a bit of the cheese on the head and attach sprinkles for eyes and antennae. Attach shredded carrot strips for legs.

Cut your slice of cheese into two squares. This is the base for your grasshopper grub. Use the toothpick to make your grasshopper stand up. Yum?

Take a spoonful of cream cheese and add a few chopped dates (or raisins/craisins). Form it into a bug-like shape: round, tube, rectangle; whatever you like . . . be creative!

Press your “bug” into the crumbs, making sure you cover the entire surface of the bug.

Add sprinkles for eyes and mouth. Or use some of the carrots for extra pizzazz!

Be sure you make enough to share with others for a slug-a-bug picnic! Also, remember to send us photos of your creations to phingerplink@gmail.com. Please include an honest review about which you liked better: the slug-a-bug, or the apple grasshopper. Bon appetit!

You will need:

2 regular marshmallows and 1 mini marshmallow

1 toothpick

2 baby carrots

1 raison

1 small piece of apple with peel

yogurt – your favorite kid

1/4 cup flaked coconut

a spoon

2 plates

Use the toothpick to put the 2 large marshmallows together. Looks like a snowman, doesn’t it? Spread yogurt onto 1 plate and coconut onto the other (see next photo below). Roll your “snowman” in the yogurt, covering it well. Now roll it in the coconut, getting a nice “fur” coat look.

Poke baby carrots in the top marshmallow for ears. Have a grownup cut a small piece of apple for the nose. Place the nose in the center of the marshmallow. Pinch a raisin in half and place the two pieces above the nose for eyes. Finally, attach the mini marshmallow for the tail.

Enjoy your yummy-bunny treat, but don’t forget the toothpick! 😁 Remember to take a picture and send it to us at phingerplink@gmail.com because we can’t wait to see your beautiful and tasty creations!

Ingredients:

1 packet of instant hot cocoa mix

two marshmallows

pretzel sticks

your favorite mug

hot water (be careful! Have a grownup help you!)

Grab a marshallow and stuff it with the pretzel sticks.

Empty your hot cocoa packet into your favorite mug.

Have an adult or older friend carefully fill the mug with hot water.

Stir until the cocoa is well mixed, then drop in your porcupine marshmallow. ENJOY!

Ingredients:

1/2 pint sour cream

1 dry soup mix packet (ranch, veggie, onion … your choice!)

1 round loaf of bread

assorted veggies: carrots, colorful peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, celery, black olives, etc.

With adult help, cut the top off your bread (save the lid!) and carefully scrape out the inside. (You can crumble the scrapings and put them outside for the birds, or enjoy a little bread snack yourself! Who doesn’t love bread?) Then carefully cut the veggies into bite-sized strips.

Mix sour cream and soup mix together, and spoon it into the hollowed-out bread “bowl.”

Paint the top of the bread lid with olive oil and place it over the dip. Decorate with different veggie shapes to make it look like a turtle shell.

Then arrange veggie pieces around the bowl so it looks like a turtle … sort of.

(Fisher’s cherry tomato head is kind of teeny for this turtle!)

Invite your friends over for a healthy snack to share now, or while watching STICK TOGETHER or any of the other videos!

Fisher says, “The healthier the snack, the sweeter the treat! Bon Appetit!”

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Grannie’s salt-and-pepper popcorn you’ll need some popped corn. With an adult or older sibling’s help, melt the butter and pour it over the popped corn. Then sprinkle with salt and pepper, adjusting the taste to what suits you best.

Enjoy your special salt-and-pepper popcorn, and be sure to share it with your friends.

Grannie’s cinnamon-and-sugar popcorn is one of Wolf’s favorites! Mix 1/4 cup of white sugar with 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon together in a small bowl. Sprinkle it over some fresh buttered popcorn and toss gently to make sure every kernel is covered. Jump in and enjoy!

Okay, when we said “jump in” we didn’t mean to actually jump in!

Share your snack pictures and comments with us at phingerplink@gmail.com. Be sure to tell us your favorite popcorn flavor!

You will need:

2 slices of bread * White sugar * Food coloring

Butter or margarine softened to room temperature

Plastic Baggies

With the help of an adult, cut off all bread crusts (that’s the Papa O way). Or if you’d like to do it Offpring’s way, gently tear them off with your fingers.

On a table or countertop, flatten each slice of bread with the palm of your hand or a rolling pin. Form it into a tube, then roll it back and forth between your palms until it is round and compact, like an opossum tail.

Put a spoonful of sugar in a plastic baggie. Add one drop of food coloring. Shake the bag and squish it with your fingers on the outside until the sugar is all one color.

Put fresh sugar in a clean bag and choose a different color.

Bend your “tail” at one end to make a hook. Using a plastic knife or spoon, butter up your tail.

Sprinkle your buttered tails with all the colors of the rainbow, or just a few … it’s up to you!

“Bread and sugar tails, what a treat!

Yum, yum, eat ‘em up, can’t be beat!”

Don’t forget to send pictures of your awesome opossum tail treats to phingerplink@gmail.com
